Learn nerikomi colored clay technique in Colorado Springs. Create patterns by layering different colored clays.
Nerikomi (also called neriage) is a Japanese technique where different colored clays are layered, folded, and sliced to reveal intricate internal patterns. Think of it like millefiori glass, but in clay. The patterns run all the way through the wall of the pot.
At Springs Pottery Studio, we teach nerikomi workshops where you'll learn to stain clay with oxides and stains, stack and fold layers, and slice to reveal stunning cross-section patterns.
At Springs Pottery Studio, we teach nerikomi as part of our comprehensive pottery curriculum. Whether you're exploring this technique for the first time or deepening an existing practice, our instructors will guide you through the fundamentals and help you develop your skills.
All materials are included in our class fees — clay, glazes, kiln firing, and tools. Our studio is equipped with both gas and electric kilns, giving you access to firing options that most pottery studios in Colorado Springs can't offer.
